Three Parts of an Effective CSC Study Routine

1. Learn the concepts

Review the relevant chapter, define unfamiliar terms, and write down formulas you must apply. Avoid copying notes without testing yourself.

2. Practise actively

Work exam-style questions without looking at your notes. Understand the explanation behind the correct and incorrect options.

3. Review weak areas

Track mistakes by topic. Revisit misunderstood concepts and complete mixed questions before your timed mock exam.

How to Use This Canadian Securities Course Study Plan

Choose the exam you are writing first. The planner allocates the chapter range across your available study days and reserves time for mixed practice and final review. If you are preparing for both exams, treat the plan as a starting point and adjust it to your actual examination dates.

  • 14 days: best as a review sprint when you have already studied the material. A first-time learner may need much longer.
  • 30 days: a concentrated plan requiring regular, disciplined sessions.
  • 60 or 90 days: more room for chapter review, formula practice and spaced repetition.
  • Practice: start with the 50-question free sample, then use chapter-specific question banks and mock exams when you need more.

Use the free CSC study guide for a broad overview and the calculation guide for worked examples. If you want a complete exam-practice system, CSCprep Complete includes Exam 1 and Exam 2 preparation for $199 CAD with 12 months' access.

Common Questions

Can I prepare for both CSC exams in 30 days?

Thirty days for both exams is an accelerated schedule. Whether it is practical depends on your starting knowledge, available hours, and examination dates. Allow extra time for unfamiliar concepts and calculations.

Does this planner include official CSI course material?

No. It is an independent planning aid. Use your current official course syllabus and examination requirements to confirm coverage and dates.

Will my checklist disappear when I leave this page?

The checklist is stored locally in this browser, if storage is available. Using a different device, clearing browser data or changing your selection may show a different checklist. Print the schedule for a portable copy.

Should I study for the CSC or a new CIRO proficiency exam?

Requirements changed in 2026 for investment-dealer approval. This planner is for the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) exams, not CIRO's CIRE or Retail Securities Exam. Check the CSC versus CIRO exam guide and confirm the required pathway with your employer or sponsor before purchasing a course.

CSCprep is an independent exam-preparation provider and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) or the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO). This planner is for study organization only; it does not predict exam results or replace official requirements.
