Who Is the CSC For in 2026?
The CSC continues to be offered by CSI as a financial-services credential and learning program. However, CIRO introduced a new assessment-centric proficiency model for Investment Dealer Approved Persons on January 1, 2026. If your goal is CIRO approval, confirm the current exam, education, experience and dealer-training requirements for your intended role before relying on the CSC.

How many CSC exams are there?
The Canadian Securities Course has two exams. CSI currently lists 100 multiple-choice questions for each exam.
How long is each CSC exam?
CSI currently lists a two-hour duration for each CSC exam.
What is the CSC passing grade?
CSI currently lists a 60% passing grade for each exam.
Does CSCprep include both CSC Exam 1 and Exam 2?
Yes. The complete course covers preparation for both exams with chapter practice, calculations where applicable, scenario case studies, review tools and mock exams.
Is CSCprep affiliated with CSI or CIRO?
No. CSCprep is an independent exam-preparation provider and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CSI or CIRO.
Has the role of the CSC changed under CIRO in 2026?
Yes. Effective January 1, 2026, CSI states that the CSC is no longer acceptable for the purposes of CIRO approval with an Investment Dealer. Candidates pursuing CIRO approval should review the current CIRO proficiency requirements for their intended role.
