Do not stop at memorizing a definition. Many difficult questions turn on a relationship, exception, calculation input or the distinction between two answers that are both partly true.
A client says they will need most of their savings for a home purchase in nine months but asks for the highest-return equity fund. The fact that a product has strong historical returns does not make it suitable for a short, known time horizon. A good answer first identifies the client's liquidity needs, risk tolerance, financial circumstances and investment objective before evaluating products.
Connect analysis, portfolio construction, managed-product characteristics and client facts. Ask which constraint is decisive: liquidity, concentration, time horizon, costs or tax treatment. See CSC case-study practice for application-focused review.
Do not choose an investment because it is generally “best” or has the highest expected return. In client scenarios, the correct decision depends on the particular facts and suitability requirements. Review the Exam 2 mock exam approach after chapter practice.
